Glass Door Closes Crooked
Continue tightening and checking until the door no longer sticks.
Glass door closes crooked. In most cases having a crooked door means that it no longer closes smoothly. Sometimes it s an issue with the closing mechanism. Remove appropriate hinge from door and jamb. This is guaranteed to fix your problem but requires a lot of work.
Open and close the door to make sure that the turnbuckle isn t blocking the door seal then mark its screw holes with a pencil. Close door and check the spacing at the top and latch side of the door. It should extend diagonally below the side that opens then all the way up to the side of the hinge. If you begin to create gaps at the trim joints stop.
Close the door to check the fit. It s rare but you might find that you can t draw in a hinge at all because the jamb is already tight against the framing or shims. Hold door hinge against cardboard and use utility knife to cut around hinge. When your storm door won t close all the way you can often make some simple adjustments to correct the situation.
Align it in the bottom track and then tilt it up. Roll the door toward the latch side jamb then turn the adjustment screws until the door is parallel with the jamb. The last ditch effort fix for the problem is to remove the door from the hinges and sand away at the trouble corner. Determine which hinge must be shimmed to adjust door and create even spacing.
Keep an eye on the door trim as you tighten. Reattach the head stop first otherwise it could fall out. One edge rubs and it makes it hard to close or open the door.
